Today marks a major milestone in our brief internet history. After bouncing from different shared hosting plans, we have finally decided to take the big step and have our own dedicated server for all our sites. Although it does cost significantly more than what we were used to paying, it’s an important step forward for our business to be less dependent on the hosting company (as they put thousands of other users on the same server) and leave room for our future growth.
The company we have decided to use is Hostgator and the reason for the choice is very simple. We are currently on their shared plan and it would be easy for them to help us transfer all the sites over. Another reason is, they provide the technical support so we can utilize their expertise in this area where we know nothing about.
We have chosen the cheapest system as we are still under utilized anyway, so the cost is $174 per month.
